mine hikes

Post  Chief Thinking Bear on Sun Feb 12, 2012 7:57 pm

Smile Working on some minning hikes. There are many pit mines in my area. Mosts are old mica mines. The mines contain pegamites, clear and smokey quartz and beryl among many other minerals. If interested let me know. pirat

I went to one in Groton where there was a huge quartz vein, the quality of the quarts was stunning, didnt get to stay long but would love to go back and look for pockets of crystals, large quarts crystals are a big money item now same with amethyst and citrine, citrine is the hardest to find online. if we were to find watemelon tourmaline we would be in for some serious money Very Happy

mine locations in NH & VT

Post  Chief Thinking Bear on Mon Mar 05, 2012 2:31 pm

Most mine and mineral locations can be found online. I also have books that show locations in both NH & VT. So if anyone is interested in mineral collecting or wants to tag along. I will be scouting some locations that are in walking distance of my house. I am also interested in checking out other locations.

Mineral collecting

Post  Chief Thinking Bear on Thu Apr 25, 2013 4:43 am

Will be searching for new mines to explore and found some interesting mineral locations nearby. Recently my son found an emerald on our road. Yesterday I found some high quality garnet, citrine, clear quartz and a tooth.

Gem find

Post  Chief Thinking Bear on Wed May 15, 2013 5:17 am

Was walking around my property and was looking for rock specimens. Found an interesting rock under an uprooted tree. The rock was sandstone type but was loaded with gemstones. I believe that they are zircon by the looks of them.
